Italian citizenship by descent

Citizenship jure sanguinis: eligibility under article 3-bis of Law 91/1992, introduced by the 2025 reform known as the Tajani decree, the document chain from your Italian ancestor, and the application to the Italian consulate or to a municipality in Italy.

How we work

Working with clients who live abroad

Most of our clients never come to Verona while their citizenship applications or court cases are open. The way we work is built around that.

A written answer first

The eligibility check is free and comes in writing, from a lawyer. When a case needs a consultation, it is paid and scheduled in advance.

Fees in writing before you sign

Our Italian citizenship assistance packages are flat-rate and published on this site, with what each one includes. Court fees and third-party costs are listed separately.

A lawyer admitted in Italy on every court case

Before an Italian tribunal, a party can only appear through a lawyer admitted in Italy. We represent clients in court from the first filing to the judgment.

No travel to Italy for a court case

The power of attorney is signed before a notary where you live and apostilled. Correspondence is in English, by email.

Before you engage anyone

Check that you are dealing with an Italian attorney

In Italy, only a lawyer admitted to the bar can represent you before a tribunal or a court of appeal. Agencies and genealogists can help you gather records, but they cannot file a court case in your name.

You can check any lawyer’s admission on the national register kept by the Consiglio Nazionale Forense, the Italian national bar council.
